It all started w Sascha. It was 2016. We were sharing an epic office on Broadway — he was running flavorpill, and he’d just separated from his wife. The site had an uncertain future. He was in his late 40’s.

He’d been doing men’s work for over a decade, in a group called Brotherhood. He was also a meditator, a yogi, he was eating ‘clean’ before there was a shake w the same name. He was that guy — that multidimensional, futuristic, grounded, feminist guy — the one you’d want your best friend to marry. The one you’d wanna marry.

ANYWAY, as all this life is falling down around him, he starts Evryman. And the first people to go are my guy friends. They get back, and they start these weekly men’s circles, modeled after Sascha’s Brotherhood circle. And I watch as it changes my guy friends — radically — and quickly.

I’m victim to perma-FOMO, so within a year, I was like, ‘me too’. The first group of women I circled up with, were the partners / wives of the men doing the work — cause they’d watched it change their partners firsthand.

That group — the bones of it — lasted for 3 years. The pandemic took a toll: group on Zoom sucked the life outta the experience for me.

Coming back to NYC this summer, I set out to reform and rebuild. I reached out to Levina Li cause I knew she had been doing group, and she knew what it means to hold the commitment — which is huge — 2 or 3 hours *every* week is no small thang.

LL brought a new dimension — cause where my circle held space for story — she knew to throw that out. Somatic only. Instead of, ‘I’m mad at my sister cuz she said…’ — instead its, ‘there’s a ring of tightness around my chest…’ — and from there, you get to the root, the emotion, and from that experiencing of the emotion, it can be expressed / felt, and thus moved, and thus epiphany.

In other words: a mini hero’s journey every monday night.

BOOM.

If you read this and you’re all, “I wanna know more’ or ‘I want this too’ — FILL THIS OUT. Your very own circle is just some clicks away.
